The Frederick Steeplechasers organize four low-key races that are free for club members. These races don’t have a lot of bells and whistles. Don’t expect a medal, a t-shirt, or a bunch of fancy awards. We don’t skimp on fun, though!
Lewis Memorial 10-Miler: Leave your Garmin at home for the chilly hills of this first race of the year, typically held in January. The winner is the runner that most closely predicts their finishing time. A pot-luck breakfast (indoors!) makes for a fun morning.
Wild 5k & 10K: Looking for a beginner-friendly, fun trail race? The Wild 5K/10K, typically held in April, is perfect for you.
Independence 5000: Celebrate the holiday on the Saturday closest to the 4th of July out at Riverside Park. This 5k on a paved path along the Monocacy River is flat and fast!
Run for the Pie 10k (actually 2 x 3.14mi) is held in northern Frederick County. While the race is technically free for members, all participants are asked to bring a pie. The top male and female get their choice of pie, while everyone else chooses in order of finishing time.
